Bangkok Elite Swim Team is Thailand’s most ambitious swimming programme supporting the country’s best swimmers from world-class facilities at Sukhumvit Soi 71 with an eight-lane 25-metres pool with track start blocks, clubhouse and gym, as well as the facilities at Berkeley International School.
Home to five of the most prolific Thai swimmers of the last 12 months, and hosting more than 80 percent of elite Thai swimmers in the last three months, Bangkok Elite Swim Team is fast becoming a hub for professional swimmers in Thailand and beyond. The team has invested more than THB20 million to build world-class facilities, recruit highly qualified coaches and develop one of Thailand’s most ambitious swimming programmes.
Catering to both beginners and professionals, Bangkok Elite Swim Team offers a five-level Learn to Swim Programme after which swimmers can continue onto the 7 Squad Competitive Programme, as well as the highly competitive Thai Athlete Support Pathway for swimmers who showcase special talent. The team ranked the fourth best swimming team in Thailand in 2017. There is high hope that it will emerge in 2018/19 as Thailand’s number one swimming club.
Bangkok Elite Swim Team offers upcoming talent and professionals a supportive environment and exposure to international competitions and training throughout Asia, Europe and Australasia. In the team’s first six months, its swimmers won the RSBC International Swim Meet, the Thai Swimming Association Lat Krabang Championships, and St Martin’s Cup, one of the biggest swimming meets in the Thai calendar. Furthermore, two Bangkok Elite Swim Team swimmers were pre-selected for the Asian Games and qualified for more than 20 finals at the Singapore National Championships.
The team includes successful professional swimmers including Joy Srisa-Ard, Asian Indoor Games double gold medallist and record holder; Phianghwang Pawapotako, Olympic qualifier in three events and SEA Games record holder in 200 metres breast; and Navaphat Wongcharoen, Olympic qualifier and national record holder in 100 and 200 metres fly.
With clearly established objectives and goals for the coming years, Bangkok Elite Swim Team is Thailand’s most ambitious swimming team, working to get swimmers qualified for the 2019 Asian Games and the 2020 and 2024 Olympic Games. The team will also regularly host Olympic swimmers at its facilities in order to motivate swimmers and raise the team’s exposure. Upcoming events include the Thai University Games in January 2019, the St Martin’s Cup in February 2019, SNAG in Singapore in March 2019, and the Thai Open Swimming Championships in April 2019.
Aside from the support of exceptional senior Thai talent cited above, Bangkok Elite Swim Team is dedicated to the development of the future swimming stars of Thailand. The team offers a Junior Performance and Junior Development squad structure which boasts many of the best young swimmers in Thailand. Bangkok Elite Swim Team operates a sponsorship/scholarship programme to support and nurture young Thai talent which would otherwise never have access to the facilities, programme, coaching and overseas opportunities which Bangkok Elite Swim Team has to offer. The objective of Bangkok Elite Swim Team is to take young Thai talent to the top of swimming in South East Asia and beyond and make a mark on the world stage.
