The 6th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (AIMAG) will take place in Bangkok and Chonburi provinces on 17-26 November 2023. Held for the third time in Thailand, the Games is a Pan-Asian, multi-sport event which is expected to attract thousands of athletes and support staff.
Endorsed and organised by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports (Thailand), the Sports Authority of Thailand and the National Olympic Committee of Thailand, the 6th AIMAG is one of the largest sporting events to take place in Thailand in recent years. The reported budget of THB1.48 trillion is expected to significantly boost the local economy.
The AIMAG programme includes 29 medal sports and two demonstration sports. The 29 medal sports are 3x3 Basketball, Badminton, BMX Cycling, Bowling, Cheerleading, Chess, Cue Sports, Dance Sports, E-Sports, Floorball, Futsal, Hoop Takraw/Sepak Takraw, Indoor Athletics, Indoor Hockey, Indoor Rowing, Jujitsu, Karate, Kickboxing, Kurash, Muay Thai, Netball, Pencak Silat, Roller Sports/Climbing, Sambo, Shooting, Short Course Swimming (25m), Taekwondo, Volleyball and Wrestling. The two demonstration sports are Air Sport - FPV Racing and Teq Football, both which are rapidly growing.
The hosting rights to the 6th AIMAG was awarded to Thailand by the Olympic Council of Asia due to the country’s strong record in hosting professional sporting events. With a strong reputation for world-class hospitality and logistics, Bangkok and neighbouring province Chonburi are well positioned to host a successful event.
Several sporting arenas and facilities in Bangkok and Chonburi have been approved for the event, which is expected to draw thousands of spectators.
