The 6th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (AIMAG), one of the largest sporting events to take place in Thailand in recent years, will be held in Bangkok and Chonburi provinces between 17-26 November 2023.
Held every four years, delayed by two years due to the pandemic, the AIMAG 2021 will boast 29 disciplines, the highest number ever for the Games. This year will see the introduction of several new sports - badminton, BMX cycling, cheerleading, floorball, indoor rowing, netball, shooting and volleyball. The Games will also feature two demonstration sports – air sport and teqball.
The 6th AIMAG is the second-largest multi-sport event in Asia after the Asian Games with more than 5,000 athletes competing from 45 nations. The Games are broadcast in more than 45 nations across various platforms and are expected to attract tens of thousands of spectators from Thailand and beyond. With a budget of more than USD48 million, the event promises to deliver a boost to the local economy.
Events will be held across 20 venues in Bangkok and neighbouring province Chonburi. Both locations were chosen for their excellent infrastructure and Thailand’s strong record in hosting international sporting events.
