The inaugural International Bubble Football Association (IBFA) World Cup Thailand will take place in Bangkok in March 2017. Featuring no less than 24 national bubble football teams from all over the world, the event is expected to attract more than 5,000 spectators as well as significant media attention.
Teams from as varied countries as China, Denmark, England, Germany, Japan, Sweden, Thailand and USA will descend on Bangkok in March 2017 for three days of bobble fun and to find the winner of the inaugural IBFA World Cup.
A relatively new sport with roots in northern Europe, Bubble Football incorporates the fun of zorbing and football with teams bumping, bashing bobbling and rolling themselves to victory. Teams consist of five players aged 16 to 38 and players wear a bubble suit on their upper torso and head while trying to score goals and take down opponents in the process. The game lasts 20 minutes, two 10-minute halves, and the team with the most goals win.
Organised by the IBFA under the auspices of Bangkok Bobble Football, the event will take place in the heart of Bangkok in front of Central World Plaza. Prior to the event, representatives from 30 national governing bodies of bubble football coming together to discuss the sport.
