The success of the Asian sporting industry highlighted
at 2017 SPIA Asia Awards

SPIA Asia 2017 - Asia's Sports Industry Awards and Conference
Bangkok, 7 November 2017

With almost 400 awards submissions, SPIA Asia 2017 - Asia's Sports Industry Awards and Conference cement the continued strength of the sporting industry in Asia.

The Awards marked the conclusion of the 3rd SPIA Asia – Asia's Sports Industry Awards and Conference, which recognises and celebrate the best-of-the-best in Asia's sports industry. More than 400 industry leaders attended the black-tie Awards Gala Dinner with Mr Nattavuth Ruengves, Deputy Governor for Elite Sports and Sports Science of the Sports Authority of Thailand, and Pol. Gen. Somyot Poompunmoung, President of the Football Association of Thailand, also in attendance.

The Awards was the culmination of a nomination process which saw almost 400 award submissions from 47 countries in 23 categories (17 Asian categories and six Thailand categories) which were then carefully reviewed by the Awards Committee Members and the independent judging panel consisting of 27 high profile industry experts.

“The standard of award submissions and competition has been exceptionally high this year. Having started with almost 400 entries, all were subject to a fair and transparent judging process that culminated with thorough appraisals by a panel of more than 20 experts. In many categories the scoring was extremely close and the Bronze, Silver and Gold winners announced at the Awards Gala Dinner should be very proud of their achievement,” commented Mr. Eric M. Gottschalk, CEO of MMC Sportz Marketing LLC, organiser of SPIA Asia 2017 – Asia’s Sports Industry Awards and Conference.

The Awards Ceremony followed the two-day “The Business of Sports – Asia's Sports Industry in the Fast Lane III” conference which saw presentations and panel discussions from 35 leading sports experts and influencers from around the world. The conference also presented the English Premier League Trophy by former Chelsea FC player and Club Ambassador, Paulo Ferreira, and the Bundesliga Trophy by FC Bayern Munich.

“Showcasing two of the biggest football league trophies in the world at this years conference was very special and is a sign of the importance of sports in the region and of SPIA Asia – Asia’s Sports Industry Awards and Conference to the industry,” added Mr. Gottschalk. “In addition to recognising the industry's best sports businesses and brands, at the core of SPIA Asia – Asia’s Sports Industry Awards and Conference is the desire to support and grow the industry, and to also give back.”

A number of The Sponsorship Experts’ clients, sponsors and partners were recognised at the Awards. “We are extremely pleased to see so many of our clients, sponsors and partners being recognised at SPIA Asia 2017 - Asia's Sports Industry Awards and Conference,” says Mr. Paul Poole, Founder, Managing Director and Chairman of Paul Poole (South East Asia) Co., Ltd. “They all work very hard to improve the sporting industry in Asia and to see their efforts being recognised at such an important event is a great pleasure and satisfaction.”
