One of the world’s largest golf tournaments, World Corporate Golf Challenge (WCGC), is returning to Thailand for its fourth edition. From January to August 2021, nine events are expected to attract more than 500 golfers.
World Corporate Golf Challenge Thailand is part of the global WCGC, which sees more than 30 national tournaments and more than 150 national qualifying events with the participation of more than 7,500 business executives. Since its inception in 1993, more than a million players have participated across the world.
With a rich golfing tradition, Thailand is one of the strongest nations taking part in WCGC. The Thai team won the WCGC World Final in 2018 and took fourth place in 2019.
WCGC Thailand will consist of eight qualifying rounds with more than 200 corporate teams participating. The best 10 percent will advance to the WCGC Thailand Final to find the team who will represent Thailand at the WCGC World Final which will take place in October 2021 at Cascais Portugal.
WCGC Thailand enjoys a strong profile in the local business community and every year the event attracts some of the country’s most senior business executives working for both strong national companies as well as multinational corporations. Corporate golfing is increasingly seen as a way for companies to improve team building and network with other companies. The WCGC Thailand participant profile includes business executives and top decision makers aged 30-60. Ninety percent of participants are male.
WCGC Thailand 2021 is organised by Fore Management Group, the current WCGC Licensee of the Year. Fore Management is currently in the process of bidding to host the World Final in Thailand in 2022.
