Stars League Asia 2027 will bring football legends, former professionals and some of the region's biggest digital creators to Thanyapura, Phuket for a week built to be played, streamed and shared.
Eight teams representing countries across Asia-Pacific will play 16 matches over seven days to crown the first champion. Thailand and the Philippines are confirmed. Korea and Uzbekistan (Unwanted Boys) have captains on board, while Australia, China, Japan and Singapore are in talks for Season 1. Teams will be drawn into two groups of four, with the top two from each progressing to the semi-finals, followed by a third place play-off and the grand final.
The line-up pairs football credibility with serious online reach. Thirteen creators and two legends or former professionals have signed so far, and Tim Cahill and Harry Kewell are pre-confirmed alongside a Season 1 ambassador who is a FIFA World Cup winner. Cahill and Kewell have a combined Instagram following of more than 42 million, while selected creators include JFootballTV (8.33 million), EuNegrete (6.2 million) and T_Killah (3.1 million).
Off the pitch, the week is designed like a show. A draft show on opening day will see captains pick their rosters live, followed by pre-match press conferences, creator skill challenges and daily behind-the-scenes content. An official tournament party, a charity initiative and a partner-led fashion event complete the programme.
Every match will be streamed live on YouTube, Kick and Facebook Live, then clipped and posted the same day. Organisers are targeting more than 100 million in social reach and 15 million video views across the tournament week, with an average online audience of 60,000 to 120,000 per match day.
The event comes from the team behind the Media Football League, founded in 2022. It has staged six full seasons and two cups, signed 24 celebrity-owned teams, drawn 8.4 million viewers to its Season 4 finale and welcomed more than 30,000 fans to its last three finals.
The audience is firmly Gen Z. There are more than one billion Gen Z consumers in Asia-Pacific, and 16 to 24-year-olds in South East Asia spend around 60 percent of their waking hours online, according to Eventique Asia.
