Almost four decades of my life passed before I discovered the power of passion and purpose. If I hadn't been severely depressed after running businesses without fulfilment and satisfaction, who knows how long I would have continued to survive this way. Being desperate to find another way of earning income and fulfilment is the start of learning how to thrive.
Discovering your passion and claiming your purpose will improve every aspect of your life. And if you learn how to connect it with your income then you win your long-lasting happiness.
The power of purpose
Whether you’re a leader or an employee, a sense of purpose is crucial to maximise your full potential. In addition to being paid, most employees will admit that happiness comes from making a significant contribution to their organisation. Playing an active role and shaping results, whether you’re managing others or following instructions, create a sense of purpose.
This feeling ignites creativity and increases concentration. Employees who are united by an internal goal are more fulfilled, more passionate and more committed to the success of their organisation.
A sense of purpose combines the values of individual employees with greater organisational values, creating a more committed employee. Employees who see that their work has a direct and significant impact on the world around them more often undertake it with passion; they are not in it just for the paycheck.
A connection to your higher purpose begins with a clear definition of your values. All employees should be encouraged to consider what values they believe to be their highest priorities and deepest motivations. And if they are unsure, supporting them is vital.
Helping yourself and your co-workers see the links between personal and organisational values will help foster a deeper commitment and sense of purpose. If you are struggling with defining your life purpose, you must learn to understand what purpose means for you.
- What are the values that make you happy?
- What makes you feel fulfilled in the evening which you can't wait to start in the morning?
- Why do you feel motivated to get up everyday?
Discovering your passion and purpose is a journey and it doesn't happen overnight. It can take weeks or even months of trying, testing, failing and trying again. If you are looking for inspiration and methodology of how to uncover your life purpose and discover your passion, you can find a lot of details of my journey to build a location-independent career in my eBook - '6+ Figure Athletic Lifestyle Business' which you can download for free.
Purpose + passion + experience = your unique value
It all starts with being honest with yourself. Understanding your purpose, discovering your passion and appreciating your past life experience shapes your unique value. And your unique value can become your expertise to teach others how to live a better life. Whether it’s your employees, co-workers, or students, others can benefit from your unique value.
I’ve built a location-independent business based on this exact concept. A business with multiple streams of income, which allows me to work remotely with all team members, clients and agencies from any place in the world. Not too shabby for the guy who two and a half years earlier was sleeping in a hostel in London with five other people in one room because he’d lost everything in his life.
2020 is a great year to start sharing your expertise. The opportunities are huge and we’re all seeing other experts creating businesses focused on teaching others. Managers teaching employees, coaches teaching athletes, professors teaching students. Whoever you are, you can create that kind of freedom too, and now is the best time to do it.
Don’t worry if you don’t think of yourself as an expert. In my eBook, you’ll learn a step-by-step methodology to combine your purpose, passion and experiences into a valuable source of income. You’ll also learn about the Expert Economy, which by 2026 will be worth over £289 billion. This means your life experience, passions, and skills all have enormous value because you can teach others how to achieve. And with such a thriving expert economy, there are many people out there waiting to invest in YOU.
It’s never been a better time to become the expert you never knew you were.
