Jurassic Park in Concert – Thailand 2019
Bangkok, 11-12 February 2019

Jurassic Park in Concert – Thailand 2019 will be the premiere of the blockbuster movie-concert format in Thailand, and the re-production of the iconic movie is expected to attract thousands of viewers.

Premiering in Thailand shortly after the 25-year anniversary of the ground-breaking Jurassic Park movie and the release of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Jurassic Park in Concert – Thailand 2019 is expected to re-capture the imagination of old and new fans with a unique movie-concert experience. Released in 1993, Jurassic Park went down in history as one of the milestones in the development of computer-generated imagery (CGI), transporting viewers back to a time when dinosaurs still roamed the Earth. The movie grossed over US$914 million worldwide in its original theatrical run, becoming the highest-grossing movie ever at the time, a record held until the 1997 release of Titanic.

Jurassic Park in Concert – Thailand 2019 will be the first time the movie-concert format is presented in Thailand. The format has gained popularity in recent years, combining the captivating visuals of cinema with the grandeur of a live symphony orchestra. Jurassic Park in Concert – Thailand 2019 will be performed by the Singapore-based Metropolitan Festival Orchestra, who has pioneered the format in Asia. It is the only orchestra in Asia to have been specially approved to perform the movie-concerts of The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Frozen and now Jurassic Park.

Thailand has a rich dinosaur heritage, and Jurassic Park in Concert – Thailand 2019 offers a unique opportunity to educate the Thai public about the country’s archaeological discoveries. Nine new dinosaur species were first found in Thailand, of which six are found nowhere else on Earth. Two species of dinosaurs - Phuwiangosaurus Sirindhornae and Sirindhorna Khoratensis - are named after Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn in honour of her royal patronage of dinosaur research in Thailand.

Jurassic Park in Concert – Thailand 2019 features two spectacular shows at the Thailand Cultural Centre on Monday 11 February and Tuesday 12 February 2019, with each show having a capacity of 1,400 viewers. The shows start at 7pm and last 2 hours and 30 minutes including a 20 minute intermission.
