Some of the world's most unique and fun-filled races are coming to Asia. Targeted at families, party goers and the general public, Blacklight Run, Bubble Run and Foam Glow are expected to see the participation of thousands of people across China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand in 2016 and 2017.
"Like running through Willy Wonka's factory" is how the organisers describe the Bubble Run. Clad in white t-shirts, people of all ages, shapes and sizes run, walk and dance a 5-kilometre distance and for each kilometre encounter a so-called 'foam bog' where colourful frothy foam will cover them from head to toe. Originating in Las Vegas and quickly spreading across the United States, Bubble Run is aimed at families and school outings and the organisers anticipate around 8,000 participants when Bangkok and Singapore welcome the race for the first time in Asia in 2016.
The 5-kilometre Foam Glow race is the world's largest foam night event and it is finally coming to Asia with China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand scheduled to host their first Foam Glow races in 2016. Participants line up at the starting line in white t-shirts and over the course of the five kilometres they will encounter various foam zones with different coloured foam that glows in the high intensity black lights that light up the track. At the finishing line, participants will look like they have fallen into a tie-dye machine, being covered from head to toe in different coloured foam.
The Blacklight Run follows the same principle as the Foam Glow race, the only difference being participants encounter different coloured powder guns throughout the race rather than foam zones. The powder glows in the many high intensity black lights that light up the track. The races are fun-filled affairs and participants are encouraged to stay after the race to enjoy live DJs, food booths and after party.
Blacklight Run and Foam Glow originated in Phoenix, Arizona where the organisers are engaged in the local community. The races are dedicated to Childhood Cancer Awareness and donate a portion of proceeds to charities such as Phoenix Children’s Hospital Children’s Miracle Network.
