SPIA Asia 2018, Asia’s premier sports industry event is calling for Awards submissions
SPIA Asia 2018 – Asia’s Sports Industry Awards & Conference
Bangkok, 19-20 November 2018

Now in its fourth year, SPIA Asia 2018 – Asia’s Sports Industry Awards & Conference is welcoming submissions from 47 countries in 21 distinct Awards Categories with Gold, Silver and Bronze being awarded to the best performers.

Organised since 2015 by MMC Sportz, SPIA Asia 2018 – Asia’s Sports Industry Awards & Conference has quickly become Asia’s premier sports industry event attended by hundreds of the region’s most influential sports industry players. Past years have seen high-profile events, brands and organisations including the Australian Open, HSBC Women’s Championships, Adidas and IMG take home awards in various categories.

“SPIA Asia 2018 is set to be the biggest yet with sports events, federations, businesses and brands across 47 countries vying for 21 awards, and more than 400 delegates attending what has become the definitive meeting place and annual conference for the sports industry in Asia,” said Eric M. Gottschalk, CEO of MMC Sportz. “Awards submissions are now open, and with sports booming in the region I expect SPIA Asia to set a new benchmark of more than 450 extremely competitive submissions. I'm also excited to announce our strategic partnership with the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) which will see two of their awards categories integrated into SPIA Asia for the very first time.”

Twenty-one distinct Awards Categories are up for grabs, as well as the SPIA Asia Lifetime Achievement Award. The 21 Categories include 14 Asian Categories, 4 Thai Categories and three Public Voting Categories. Submissions close on 21 September 2018 and following an initial round of judging, Asia’s Top 10 finalists will be announced at a press conference in Bangkok on 9 October 2018. A judging panel of industry experts from various industries and professions will then scrutinise the finalists and the winners will be announced live at the black-tie Awards Gala on 20 November 2018.

In addition to the highly anticipated awards ceremony, SPIA Asia 2018 also incorporates “The Business of Sports – Asia’s Sports Industry in the Fast Lane IV”, a two-day sports business conference which brings together the top regional opinion leaders from federations, rights holders, agencies, organisers, brands and government agencies. Panel discussions, workshops and networking events will tackle topics such as the business of football in Asia, inclusion and gender equality related to women’s team sports, eSports, sports tourism and sports and technology to name but a few.
