Jurassic Park in Concert – Thailand 2018 is an immersive experience featuring the entire Jurassic Park movie projected on a large cinematic screen while a symphony orchestra performs the iconic soundtrack, complete with dialogue and sound effects.
The movie-concert has become an increasingly popular format, combining the captivating visuals of cinema with the grandeur of a live symphony orchestra. Jurassic Park in Concert – Thailand 2018 will be the premiere of the format in Thailand and will be performed by the Singapore-based Metropolitan Festival Orchestra, who has pioneered the format in Asia. It is the only orchestra in Asia to have been specially approved to perform the movie-concerts of The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Frozen and now Jurassic Park.
Jurassic Park in Concert – Thailand 2018 will commemorate the 25th anniversary of the ground-breaking Jurassic Park, as well as mark the release of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, scheduled in June 2018. Released in 1993, Jurassic Park is still considered one of the milestones in the development of computer-generated imagery (CGI). It grossed over US$914 million worldwide in its original theatrical run, becoming the highest-grossing movie ever at the time, a record held until the 1997 release of Titanic.
Thailand has a rich dinosaur heritage, and Jurassic Park in Concert – Thailand 2018 offers a unique opportunity to educate the Thai public about the country’s archaeological discoveries. Nine new dinosaur species were first found in Thailand, of which six are found nowhere else on Earth. Two species of dinosaurs - Phuwiangosaurus Sirindhornae and Sirindhorna Khoratensis - are named after Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn in honour of her royal patronage of dinosaur research in Thailand.
Jurassic Park in Concert – Thailand 2018 features two spectacular shows at the Thailand Cultural Centre on 11 and 12 June 2018, with each show having a capacity of 1,400 viewers. The shows start at 7pm and last 2 hours and 30 minutes including a 20 minute intermission.
